Fernweh (German) – refers to an ache for distant places, a homesickness for traveling.
I love this word since I am most familiar with its meaning, and I am sure many of you are too since all of the traveling restrictions have been in place. The Fernweh Top is a reminder of those faraway places yet to explore, a ladder to something new and different; but also serving as a bridge between our homes and hearts to those adventures that await the wearer. This top is worked bottom-up in two separate identical panels, which are later joined at the shoulder straps and sides of the body. Both panels sport a mosaic motif throughout. The colorful edging brightens an otherwise monochrome background.
The mosaic motif is made by following charts and once you get the hang of it, it’s so easy to work it and the end result looks super striking.
The pattern includes a minimum length from underarm in the schematics, but the length can be adjustable to be as long as desired. The color possibilities are also endless! I am thinking that a variegated yarn mixed with a solid color would look awesome too!
Sizes + Measurement
All of the garment patterns in the book come in 9 sizes.
These are the actual garment measurements. Choose size based on body measurements and desired ease.
Designed with 0in (0cm) of ease.
Bust:
29¼ (32¾, 37¼, 41½, 45) (49¼, 53¾, 58, 62½) in / 74.5 (83, 94.5, 105.5, 114.5) (125.5, 136.5, 147.5, 159) cm
Minimum length from underarm:
5 (8, 8, 8, 8) (10½, 10, 9.75, 12½, 12) in / 12.5 (20.5, 20.5, 20.5, 26.5) (25.5, 25, 31.5, 30.5) cm
Complete schematics in the book include more points of measurement, but when it comes to choosing a size, bust measurements are the most important in a straight pullover like this one.
