Hygge Jacket

Get comfy with the Hygge Jacket

Let’s get to know the first mosaic crochet design from my book, Colorful Crochet Knitwear. This is Hygge, with it’s comfortable fit, incredibly easy construction and interesting mosaic motifs!

Before we get started, here are some important links!

Colorful Crochet Knitwear is to be released on April 12th, 2022 and you can preorder NOW here:

Hygge (Danish) – a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).

This jacket is meant to embody coziness and comfort; what you would wear on a chilly summer evening at a campsite with friends, or while cuddling your family with a cup of coffee during a chilly morning on holiday.

Its simple raglan construction, made with worsted weight yarn, means fast progress that will keep you entertained. It is a loose jacket, worked seamlessly top-down, with wide sleeves and a mosaic crochet motif that runs along bottom of body and sleeves. And while the sample shown has a cropped length and three-quarter sleeves, the jacket would be just as effective as a tunic length. The reverse single crochet makes a beautiful rope-like edging.

The best thing about this pattern, is that it comes with a table with row by row instructions to help you keep track of all increases while shaping the raglan yoke. Yes, each size has its own table, which means that you can easily check the rows worked to avoid any confusion!

The pattern doesn’t include instructions for buttonholes since the jacket is meant to be worn open. However, if you would like to add buttons, it is as easy as this: Mark the placement of the buttonholes on one side of the front edging before working the ribbing. Then when reaching the marker, work the ribbing as usual, but make 2 or 3 chains, skipping 2 or 3 stitches, in the middle of the ribbing row to create a hole!

Sizes + Measurement

All of the garment patterns in the book come in 9 sizes.

These are the actual garment measurements. Choose size based on body measurements and desired ease.

Finished Bust Circumference: 32¼ (37½, 40.5, 44.25, 49.5) (53.25, 56.25, 60, 65.25) in / 82 (95, 103, 113, 126) (135, 143, 153, 166) cm

Body and sleeve length is adjustable to desired length. Designed with 3–5in (8–12.5cm) of ease.

Complete schematics in the book include more points of measurement, but when it comes to choosing a size, bust measurements are the most important in a straight pullover like this one.
