ABOUT
Astronomia was first featured in Moorit Magazine, Issue 3 - you can still purchase back issues on their website.
Inspired by a memory, the eyelets in Astronomia’s yoke represent a night sky full of stars. In this memory, it is the middle of the night and I am standing with my father on the side of a country road, waiting to witness the magic of a meteor shower. My father also happens to be an astronomer, hence the Latin astronomia. The pullover is constructed top-down, beginning with the stretchy knit-like ribbing at the neckline. Short rows raise the back of the neck for a better fit, and halfway down the yoke the sweater is divided into four parts for the intarsia colourwork. A spike of colour darts down each sleeve, the front and the back. You will shine in the centre of your very own star.

Other Yarn Alternatives
Any DK weight yarn will work, but here are some I would recommend based on weight and fiber content:
Sirdar, Cashmere Merino Silk DK (75% Merino Wool 20% Silk 5% Cashmere)
KnitPicks, Gloss DK ( 70% Merino Wool, 30% Silk)
Lion Brand, LB Collection® Superwash Merino Yarn (100% Extra Fine Wool)
Gauge
17 hdc x 11 rows = 10cm x 10cm / 4” x 4”
Gauge achieved working flat using 4.5 mm hook after blocking. Adjust hook to meet tension.
Be sure to block and check gauge before starting by making a big enough gauge swatch (at least 15 x 15 cm).
